Behind The Lens

Hello, I am Greg Willson, a photographer with a passion for capturing the beauty, drama, and emotion of the world around us through the lens of a camera. I am especially drawn to dramatic ocean sunrises, where bold colors, deep shadows, and brilliant light come together to create striking and unforgettable images.

Why sunrises?

I am capturing something that exists only in that brief moment. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. That particular sunrise will never exist again. It is unlike a photograph of a snow capped mountain, or a photograph of an eagle soaring through the sky, or a photograph of a brightly lit building in a night cityscape. Each of those can be photographed again. Not a sunrise. Each one is forever different than the one that proceeded it and for the one the will follow.

For me, photography is about more than taking a picture, it is about capturing a feeling, preserving a moment, and sharing a perspective that inspires others to see and hear the world a little differently. There is an undeniable purpose for each sunrise, for each wave that crashes onto a sandy beach, for each beam of light that pierces the morning darkness.
